We are a group of enthusiasts from Bulgaria collecting banknotes. Everything is work in progress, be patient with us, it is a monumental task!

1. Purpose - The site was created by me, Yasen Nikolov (Joe Psysky), and its ultimate goal was to follow the progress of our collection, but as my curiosity grew immensely I started involving more content into it, creating a comprehensive environment or amalgamation of history, banknotes, geography and all kinds of interesting amendments to make this collection an interesting tool for collectors and admirers of banknotes.

2. Rights - This database has no commercial purpose and I don't have the rights for any of the images, except for My Scans. I've gathered information form many places - mainly Wikipedia, numismatic sites, sites of colleague collectors into my vision of banknote guide

3. Commercial goal - We don't have any commercial goal - the site has only purpose to serve me as my catalogue and follow our progress, as well as be interesting guide to others. Of course I've invested a lot of labor in it, so it would be a shame to not include a Donation link for people who think my work is useful and wish to contribute in any way, even with just positive words

4. Catalogue guide - The catalogue is following my vision for a banknote collection. We started with a very simple catalogue when we were beginners but diving further and further in the hobby we learned a lot and I had to adjust and expand the site. So since then it has been an ever growing in content and information catalogue. Here are some points regarding the structure:

4.1 Continents

I've defined the countries according to their sovereignty status in UN. The sovereign nations are split by continent groups and there are some more geographical qualifications in order to spread the continents more evenly. For example countries like Cyprus and Georgia are in Asia, following their location proximity. Also Caribbean countries are added to the North America.

     - Dependent countries / territories / former states - In the catalogue I've grouped the dependent nations in the parent country they belong to. This is why for example Scotland can be found in UK or Aruba can be found in Netherlands.

     - Disputed - Countries with widely disputed status are present in their own caterogy, but have links to them in the country which de jure holds they belong to.

     - Counters - I've included counters, displaying the number of sovereign countries that we have banknote from. If the number is red, it means we miss a country (prominent examples being Andora and Panama)

4.2 Country catalogues

Each country has its own page with all available banknotes for the country and its dependent territories.

- Series - Banknote series are mostly groups of banknotes released at the same time, but the definitions can vary and I've used my own discretion to group them in some cases when there are no clearly defined families of notes (in the past there has been quite sporadic note releasing, while in present days boundaries are clearer). It is just neat to have a group the banknotes when it is relevant ant possible.

- The link next to each Series leads you to the series in Colnect.com

- Country Title Tools - Each country has this title screen:

     - 1. Counters - The first number shows banknotes we have, the grey number is banknotes documented, regardless of possession

     - 2. Flag and country name

     - 3. Switch to Coins (We have some coins but the collection consist just of at least one coin per country, we focus on banknotes.).

     - 4. Arrow buttons for Next and Previous country in the list

     - 5. Quick links related with this country's banknotes - Balkan.auction, Bazar.bg, Ebay.com, Banknotes.ws; Wikipedia.com; jump to bottom link

     - 6. Convertor of notes in Bulgarian Lev

     - 7. Maps - Relief, Satellite and Political

     - 8. Images from the country, to set the mood of the times and places related with the notes

- Additional country tools

- Jumps to territories or different stages in a countrie's development within the page by clicking on the flags.

- Currency name and symbol

- Banknotes - Banknotes are listed like this::

     - 1. Year of release (could include letter suffix in case more notes match in year and value)

     - 2. Value and currency name

     - 3. Descriptions of Front and Back

     - 4. An item with simple description, upon clicking it will be searched for in Google.

     - 5. An item with audio, upon clicking it Youtube clip will appear.

     - 6. Generic item, no description needed.

     - 7. An item with geographic location, upon clicking it a map with marked location will open.

     - 8. A tag signifying a perfect banknote (UNC)

     - 9. Tag for the material, can be Paper, Polymer or Hybrid substrate

     - 10. Tags for quality flaws. See Legend for the full list

     - 11. Signifies a group of similar / slightly modified versions of the same banknote

     - 12. General quality of the banknote (only if we have it, otherwise this is irrelevant for general catalogue), rated from 1 to 5. See the Legend for descriptions

     - 13. Notifies that the banknote has an IN DETAIL view of its description with areas. This is done for banknotes that have more than one entities and is a way to better distinguish all elements that the designers included. This is the best possible way to appreciate a banknote. It is usually skipped if the composition is simple (like havng just a single person on it)

     - 14. Face / Front / Obverse side

     - 15. Back / Reverse side

     - 16. Pick catalogue number

     - 17. Vario (red) and Grande (blue) sheet that the note can fit (3 or 4 per page), mostly internal use for album organization

     - 18. Height in mm

     - 19. Quick search for this note in Balkan.auction, bazar.bg and Ebay

     - 20. Quick tool overlaying the different versions so changes can be compared visually

     - 21. Scan of our version of the note if there is one available
